The 90s Summer festival, which was on break for almost two years due to COVID-19 returns  tomorrow at Gaborone Club.

In an interview on Wednesday the event’s chief organiser, Vince Mosimanewakgang of Instinct Media Company said the festival was set to bring back wonderful old memories through music and vintage fashion.

He said designs, colourful cocktails and activities that were the trending in the 90s will be showcased.

“This will take the music enthusiasts back to the 90s, and to recap on the music and fashion of those times.  

It will also be a fun filled event that will accord revellers time and space to celebrate together after an 18 months break that was imposed due to the COVID 19 pandemic,” Mosimanewakgang said.

The lineup includes Djs Bax, Kellz, Lefatshe, Ceedea, Enezel, Sly,  Traxx, Frostbite, Khenzo and Dj Juicy and Soul as well as Shaft people and Shimrock.

Cherry on top will be performances by South African Kwaito legends Joe Nina, Thebe Mogane aka Thebe as well as Mapaputsi.

The organisers included them to strike a balance between local and international artistes and to treat revellers to their old school tunes.

Joe Nina of Ding dong fame, who had a huge following locally in the 90s will give  those born in 2000 known as ma2000 a taste of 90s music whilst taking the older revellers aka ma74 down memory lane .

Joe Nina is expected to perform among others Nomthandazo and Angeke Ngiphinde, Mabalaza tracks.

Thebe is expected to treat attendants to his all time favourite songs Lenyora, Abuti Bula buti and Tshasa hits.

Revellers should also look forward to Mapaputsi’s Kleva and Izinja tunes and electrifying dance moves.

Mapaputsi, one of the fathers of the genre rose to fame with his song Izinja.   

“Over the years, we have had strong ties with South African artists, we need to keep the fire burning despite the challenges we encounter in the industry, hence we have them as part of the line up,” Mosimanewakgang said. ENDS
