Batswana have taken to social media application, Mobstar in support of Miss Botswana Palesa Molefe giving her the much needed boost at the Miss World pageant in Puerto Rico.

By Wednesday, Palesa’s rating on Mobstar had surpassed one million likes giving her an added advantage in the first round of the competition which is based on votes.

She is also in group 8 with Miss Estonia, Miss Saint Lucia, Miss Iceland, Miss Italy and Miss Tunisia.

Miss Botswana organiser Kaone Moremong said they were working hard to encourage people to continue voting for her on Mobstar.  

“I am thankful that Batswana and other countries are behind Miss Botswana,” she said.

Palesa arrived in Puerto Rico on Tuesday where she had an opportunity to mingle with other contestants. In one of the videos that has gone viral she is seen teaching them how to greet in her Setswana.

Prior to her departure, she had an opportunity to visit two of the country’s tourism destinations Makgadikgadi Pans and the Okavango Delta where her intro-video for Miss World was filmed.

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane have also thrown their support behind Palesa by voting for her.

Dr Masisi assured Palesa that the nation was behind her.

“The nation is behind you.

We are proud and we have all the confidence that you’ll bring the crown home… I plead with Batswana to show support and ensure that she wins the Miss World title,” the President said.

“Bagaetsho a re rotloetseng sekgantshwane sa rona Palesa Molefe. I just voted for her this morning and I urge you all to do the same,” shared Mr Tsogawne on his Facebook page.

Batswana have also taken to the Miss Botswana and Botswana Pageantry Facebook page to show their support.

One Base Mpho Mogotsi said,‘We will make it and we have to make it for our Palesa.’

Tsholo Tuke who is also one of those who votrd for Molefe  shared that ‘Re ka ko Mobstar everyday re tsogela koo… Let’s do this bathong.’
