22 Nov 2021

Organisers of the inaugural Boteti Elevation Festival featuring BW’s heavyweights at Urbanites Farm on Saturday proved local artistes’ knack by staging a spectacular music show.

The show, a first of its kind in the area, left night crawlers calling for more after the local acts wowed  them, proving that local entertainers have what it takes to keep the crowd on their toes.

Given the festival’s good attendance other local promoters have no reason to have lineups dominated by foreign entertainers.

The line-up included Botswana’s finest performers Cultural Spears, Amantle Brown, La Timmy, Vee Mampeezy, DJ Scelesto and DJ Sly among others.

The festival satisfied Zowa night crawlers after a long break imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Culture Spears of Kulenyane fame opened the stage with their usual killer performance.

They sent the music enthusiasts to cloud nine with their songs Orapa go tsenwa ka pampiri, Mosetsana o tshwarwa ka lebante, Ntsanyana borikhirikh and Magadidadi.

It was evident that the troupe, consisting of some members from Boteti area was set to leave an impression among their own, with their ability to command the spectators’ attention from the beginning till the end of their set.

The overly excited crowd sang along with the group.

Following Culture Spears was Amantle Brown who also did not disappoint as she slayed her performance.

She grabbed night crawlers’ attention with her melodious voice complemented by her unique dance moves.

She played songs such as Moratiwa, Black mampatile and Mojolo wa nyesa among others.

DJ La Timmy also took it to another level, bringing the roof down with his electrifying performance.

He stirred revelers’ excitement with his unique drum beat routine and dancing style, leaving revelers wanting more of his sterling performance.

Vee Mampeezy proved he was still the king of kwaito kwasa.

His dancers lured spectators’ attention by their mastered and owned the dance styles.

The revelers cheered, danced and sang along the maestro.

The event’s chief organiser Mohau Gabanakgosi said the festival achieved its objective of supporting local artistes and showcasing their talent.

He said the show received a magnificent response from Letlhakane revelers as all booked artistes honored the invite.

The plan, he said was to host the festival annually in the area that has been dry on events.

Gabanakgosi said they were quite impressed by the revelers’ conduct since there were no fights and security also was good.

He indicated that the plan was to organise a meeting with the village leadership and give back to the local community by assisting them with food hampers. ENDS
