Preparations for the gospel music concert dubbed, Arise and Worship to be staged at Molapo Piazza on December 11, are progressing well.
The concert organised by Golden Relic in conjunction with Sweet Brands is expected to attract more than 3 000 spectators and will feature two of South Africa’s award winning artistes, Benjamin Dube and Lebo Sekgobela.
The duo also belongs to the Spirit of Praise Group.
They will perform alongside Anu Elizabeth from Ghana, Cetrick Depina and Michael Kodua from Nigeria.
Local artistes expected to take part are award winner Obakeng Sengwaketsi and the 2nd runner up of the Melody gospel show, Thabiso Mafoko.
Giving an update at a press conference in Gaborone on Wednesday, Sweet Brands director, David Abraham, alias DVD said the purpose of the concert was to give praise to God, expose and nurture talent among local gospel music artistes.
He said Bishop Dube and Sekgobela would arrive on the day of the concert while others were expected days in advance, to enable them to visit some churches and share the Gospel.
DVD said since they were expecting a large crowd, the police and other security services would be present to ensure order.
He expressed disappointment at those failing to wear masks and said free masks would be availed at all entry points.
DVD appealed to the nation to get vaccinated against COVID-19 since it was an effective way to curb the spread of the corona virus especially at such events.
Golden Relic director, Tebogo Seramane stated that part of the profits from the concert would be allocated to different charity organisations, to support disadvantaged families and individuals.
She said government was doing its part to lessen the impact of the pandemic and so, other stakeholders should also assist ENDS
