Leteise on fleek billed for Saturday

10 Nov 2021

The annual picnic dubbed Leteise on fleek will be held over the weekend at Tashy Royal Gardens, after a two-year hiatus, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The picnic attracts people of different age groups; dressed in traditional attire of varied styles and designs of Leteise (German print).

Its aim is to recognise and celebrate the beauty of local fashion, encourage creativity among local fashion designers and give them a business opportunity.

Chief organiser, who is also the director of Colourful People, David Letshwiti said preparations were progressing well and they anticipated a good turnout. Letshwiti said tickets were in high demand and more than 5 000 people were expected to attend.

“We have secured Shimmy, an Afro Pop artist from South Africa, to perform due to the long-standing stable relationship we have with him,” he said.

He added that Simmy would perform alongside local artists among them; Mpho Sebina, Dr Vom, Thabang Gaarogwe, the Jazz Man, Bakang Lenyaola, Kabelo Tiro, Sereetsi and the Natives. Letshwiti said Djs would perform at a subsidised fee.

He promised a fun-filled thrilling event that would accord revelers an opportunity to come together and rewind in a relaxed atmosphere.

He further said the two-year break was a learning curve as it gave organisers a chance to introspect and come up with ways to improve activities to keep meeting revelers’ expectations.

“We managed to scout for more partners, which will enhance our organisational means to suit revelers’ expectations.

The event will also be documented and live-streamed on all digital social media platforms,” he said. ENDS
