Ipotseng Kayawe (28), an entrepreneur cum writer has shared the nuts and bolts of running a business in his maiden publication titled, Entrepreneurs out of the Darkness.

Running a business he believes, runs in his veins and does not see himself doing anything but, because he is merely putting into practice the theory of a Business Management Degree he read for.

The book contains chapters on planning, leadership, communication, marketing, team building and innovation, which he considers cardinal to running a sustainable and successful enterprise.

Kayewe, a Gweta native, who also runs IP Business Consultancy, told BOPA on Thursday that he long yearned to write a book to share his knowledge but could not master the confidence to start.

It was only last year that he managed to write the first chapter of the book, using profit from his consultancy company.

The 10-chapter book talks about doing business and how to survive the business world and Mr Kayawe said he wanted to help others who might be facing similar challenges to those he experienced.

He said many feared the unknown and advised that it was wise to learn from those who had made it in business.

Kayawe viewed the book as a practical guide to running a successful establishment.

His former lecturer and mentor at Botho University, Dr Emmanuel Zhanda wrote in his foreword that the book would make an interesting read to aspiring business students and entrepreneurs.

Dr Zhanda said Kayewe was passionate about entrepreneurship and writing while a university student and that made him a good candidate to write a book about running a business.

For her part, Lesego Montsho of Insightful Books Inc., a company that branded and printed the book, said she was part of the journey since did the editing and proof reading part.

She said she was impressed by Kayawe’s passion and dedication and looked forward to working with him again in future.

Montsho encouraged other aspiring authors to believe in themselves and work hard to realise their dreams.

The book is available at IP Business Consultancy offices situated in Dabo House and will soon be available in book stores in Francistown and Gaborone. Ends
