Miss Botswana 2021 Top 16 finalists online voting started yesterday.

Miss Botswana announced the Top 30 on Friday following virtual auditions held last month.

Voting will be done through Miss Botswana social media online platforms and each finalist will have a number and picture, which members of the public will use to vote.

The top 30 selection whose youngest member is a 19-year-old, boasts of young women of different professions from medicine, marketing, academics and some entrepreneurs.

This year’s top 30 was chosen from across the country and some from remote areas such as Omaweneno, Nkange, Maboane and Mbambo with no entry from Gaborone.

Miss Botswana pageantry head, Kaone Moremong said this year’s finalists were selfless, determined, ambitious, confident, brave and driven young women who were ready to serve the country.

She said the selection symbolised unity and that Botswana was moving forward, especially in the digital space.

The 54th Miss Botswana queen will be crowned in October, under the theme: Unearthing a New Jewel.

The theme calls on Batswana to look beyond minerals as a form of identity, and rather develop and embrace new industries to sustain themselves. ENDS
