YAMAS receive P1.4 million

This year’s YARONA FM Music Awards (YAMAS) have received a cash injection of P1.4 million.
YAMAS project manager, Percy Raditladi said the money was from different sponsors and was expected to benefit over 200 creatives, during the event, slated for the last week of September.
Raditladi said donors include Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, First National Bank of Botswana Limited and Mascom.
He said the windfall meant that, for the first time in history of the music awards, winners from each of the 17 categories, would walk away with bigger and better prizes.
“The largest amount is P60 000, which is set for the People’s Choice Artists of the year category and will be followed by the Song of the Year category, which has a P40 000 share,” he said.
Raditladi said they appreciated the sponsors for acceding to their request, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which had resulted in most artistes losing their income streams.
He also said that the voting lines would remain open until September 6 and encouraged Batswana to vote for their favourite artists, who have been nominated in the various categories. ENDS
