 Katlego Mochai, aka DJ Kooly K, (24) recently released a single dubbed Minementle.

The Serowe-born Katlego said he was riding the wave of music success, which he attributed to having the right setup.

He said the afro house track, Minementle is about the power of love; how he was loved by his close friends and the way they loved his motivational music.

He said he worked with different artistes in Botswana and South Africa, adding that the album was featured by TRM SA and recorded at OBS in Botswana.    

Dj Kooly K admitted that COVID-19 had hit the arts really hard, given that there were no shows and movement was limited, hindering artists from marketing their talent.

He said he started deejaying in 2015 and worked with different artistes, leading to his first album called Better Ways, which did very well before the COVID-19 pandemic.

He noted that through his savings, made while he was a resident DJ at Palapye’s 442 Pub, he started the production in 2017, motivated by Yun Tornado. 

He also said before the pandemic, he used to deejay at weddings, parties, clubs and stokvels amongst others.

He said he loved music from a tender age, adding that he continued with it after completing his Form 3 at Semane JSS,.

Being a DJ and dancer is “the only job I knew and did well’’, he said. ENDS
