An award winning author, poet and publisher, Lame Pusetso (24), has penned down the story of her life in a book titled, Tears on my Mother’s Shoe.

The book has added another silverware to her already flourishing cabin by winning the African Authors Award 2021.

Pusetso, a renowned poet known by the stage name, Poeticblood, hails from Hukuntsi in Kgalagadi.

Raised by her 68-year-old mother and the youngest of seven siblings, Poeticblood said the short story was inspired by her upbringing. She said her mother persevered and worked hard to raise them.

“The book is a reminder of my upbringing. It reflects on what I have gone through. It gives those faced with challenges hope that whatever they are going through, will change for the better,” she said.

Her life story would inspire people to love, have hope and work hard. “It teaches people to never give up, love and care for one another no matter the differences”.

She said her story also motivated people to cherish and relate with their roots and use their life account to inspire and nurture others as well as live life to the fullest, adding that one must trust that one day, they would conquer.

Poeticblood, who also owns Poeticblood Publishers, on numerous occasions took part in and emerged victorious at regional, constituency and national Presidential Arts Competitions.

“I have facilitated poetic workshops locally,” she said, re-calling that she was a panelist at Babishai Niwe Poetry Festival in Uganda in 2018 and in 2019 at Sotambe Arts, Film and Documentary Festival for African Literature Discussions in Kitwe Zambia.

She won the Lit Light Nigeria November Contest in 2019 and a recipient of the African Authors Award in 2020.

Poeticblood said her poetic work had seen her perform at social gatherings and corporate events locally and regionally and had featured at the Heritage Month in Limpopo and the Love Language hosted by Women in Arts in Polokwane, South Africa.

She is the founding director of Dare to Fly Poetic Movement and a member of the National Writers Association of South Africa

As an author, the multi ward winning author ha,  among others, received the African Authors Award 2020 for her book titled, Oceans of Untold Goodbyes. She has also written another book titled Love by the Blade, co-authored Take the Lead with Katamelo Monnatsie, Murder Me with Tinatenda.

“I am currently working on three books to be released September,” she said.

Poeticblood said she worked with the community to help children raised from humble beginnings achieve their dreams and believed that there were those with God-given talent while others needed nurturing to ultimately realise what they could achieve.

“As an author and poet, one must engage in intensive research and reading. You ought to be up to date with current affairs.

The environment must inspire one to work hard and scribe down what will relate well and be of relevance to the environment that one lives in.

An author or a poet must make some positive impact in the society,” said Poeticblood. ends
