Kgosi Mosadi of Balete has commended, Boemo Lunga’s first solo exhibition for telling a story of a boy child through his drawings and paintings.

Officiating art exhibition dubbed Shimmie Solo Exhibition, organised by Empire Arts consultancy at Thapong Virtual Arts on Saturday, she said Lunga’s paintings would positively impact a boy child.

“Art and culture brings communities together they are an excellent source of wonders.”

She further said his story telling of a boy through drawings was bringing hope to the neglected boy child. Explaining how over the years a boy child have been neglected, she said it seemed people focused on training girls to be perfect while boys were left to trail through life’s mucky waters on their own.

“As a result so many men had to learn a lot of things the hard way. Many of them grew up broken and did not have anyone to ask questions,” She Said.

Kgosi Mosadi also said a lot went wrong as a result and boys made lots of mistakes, took bad decisions, and it would have been vital if they were guided properly from a young age.

On International Boy Child Day, she said it was a day set aside to advocate for a boy child to be educated, groomed and mentored in order to have a truly gender equally world.

Narrating one of the paintings named hustler, Lunga said the painting was showing a boy child (Shimmy) carrying a heavy bag and it was teaching him to work hard and carry on ‘hustling’.

Thapong Virtual Arts coordinator, Reginald Bakwena said they were appreciating to work with Empire Arts Consultancy founder, Obed Mokhuhlani. He said the company was strengthening creativity and building conducive environment for the artists.

He said such would also encourage artists to come up with good productions and be able to build careers out of arts. Bakwena said exhibition by Empire Arts Consultancy was furthering Thapong mandate of promoting Botswana arts. ENDS
