Mogwe on COVID-19 impact

22 Apr 2021

It is an undeniable fact that COVID-19 has been one giant, causing havoc in almost everyone’s lives, with those in the entertainment industry being amongst the hardest hit as events, which are the main source of income, cancelled.

With their main source of income shutdown since the outbreak of COVID-19, it has been survival of the fittest.

Kabelo Mogwe of Culture Spears said COVID-19 affected him as a musician and he has been finding other means of survival and ensuring that his fans do not forget him.

He revealed that before the pandemic, he made a lot of money and was able to meet his needs and take care of his family through his shows, but life has since been hard.

He said his team had to come up with ways to keep their fans busy and reminding them of why they love Culture Spears by selling ringtones of their music and T-shirts with the group’s logo.

He said they also had to come up with an idea to go capture the hearts of their supporters through selling of T-shirts branded with the history of the songs released by the group.

“We have now decided to print new white T-shirts with numbers and individual names on the back,” he said, adding that the numbers automatically register one as a Culture Spears member, with a membership card displaying the number automatically issued.

Mogwe said the membership cards would be used by the supporters to be part of the group, adding that they were yet to discuss more on the benefits of the membership cards such as attending Culture Spears shows and making bookings for private events at no cost.

He encouraged other artistes to find ways to survive during the COVID-19 era and continue to make music for the people, revealing that he had a lot of songs to release. ENDS
