DJ Twaza makes come back

DJ Twaza, born Tlhwaafalang Tebogo, has made a comeback with a 15-track house album titled Testify.
DJ Twaza has been absent in the music circles since 2012 after releasing his debut gospel album, Gaufi le Morena, which did not do well.
In an interview during a listening session of the album, whicj will be released on Friday, he said he had to take a long break so as to introspect since his debut album did not bring him satisfying results.
DJ Twaza, who is also on a part-time basis, at Duma FM said the purpose of the listening session was to hype his fans of what to expect in the upcoming album and to provide a platform for advising and critique before he could pull out the final product.
“I learnt it the hard way after releasing my debut album. I had thought all was under control but when the album hit the ground, the response from the audience said a different story. I took a break, now that I am coming back with a totally different genre,’’ he said.
He said he had shifted from the gospel genre and settled for house music to meet the demands of his fans who were mostly the youth who preferred fast-paced beats.
DJ Twaza said the title track, Testify was intended to send out a message that everything was possible despite life challenges. In the track, he has borrowed words such as ‘vula masango’ from the Zulu language, as he pleads with God to open doors of opportunities for him.
He said he was happy to have survived despite the turbulence during his life journey.
“Some local seasoned artistes closed me out whenever I asked for some assistance from, but I never allowed that to shatter my dreams. I crossed the border to South Africa to enhance my music tactics,” he said.
He said while in South Africa he worked with DJ Call Me of Mama I am sorry and Marry me my love fame, he also worked with DJ Musik Sa and Bayor from King Monada among others.
He said the second track titled Moribo acknowledged the rich idioms and metaphors of Setswana language.
DJ Twaza said he composed all the 15 tracks and produced them at different studios in South Africa so as to have a varied production in one.
He further said the music industry was not for the faint-hearted as it required determination and passion to make a mark. ENDS
