After much struggle in the music industry spanning over a decade, talented Kwaito artist Tizo, has released a sizzling hot video.
The video, titled Wa maloba le maabane, was shot and released in Tsabong, and seemingly asserts his presence in the music industry, where all has not been rosy for him, despite his flair, commitment and passion for music.
The 33-year-old Omaweneno-born said in an interview that he had learnt a lot in his music journey. He said he was determined to take his craft to the next level and would not allow COVID-19 pandemic to stand on his way. Armed with two albums Lekgwatlha and It’s On released in 2006 and 2008 respectively, the artist says even though the albums were successful life has been rough for him.
He admitted that he has not been able to adequately put food on the table, despite dishing out his talent.
The artist said he was first signed by Mr Tagg under Real Deal Records in 2006 and later changed recording companies to So Hype Records managed by Massie Hule.
He released his second album in 2010 collaborating with local music icons such as T.H.A.B.O, Punah and Shanti Lo.
Tizo said afterwards, he produced singles, with the last Maruping go a boelwa currently scintillating the airwaves.
He said all was not well as he was not making enough money to survive and he quit signing with record labels. He said his major financial breakthrough came in 2012, after winning President Day Competitions under the new comers’ category, where he scooped position two bagging P25 000.
He extolls the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development for giving him the platform, which he says enabled him to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Tizo said he was able to connect electricity at home and used some of the money to cut CDs to advance his music.
On his failure to make money despite ample talent, he blames his undying love for the microphone as his downfall, reasoning that over the years, he was driven by passion and not money. Ends
