Jacqueline aims to make it big

01 Mar 2021

Such as all humble beginnings, Jacqueline Rad is a name which may soon break into the musical mainstays of Botswana’s house music industry with the hard work and spiritual dedication that Jacqueline Radikhukhu has put in.

The 25-year-old Molepolole-born songstress recently revealed, in an interview, that she had put all bets into her musical career with just one ethos; to become one of the greatest musical acts this country had produced.

Jacqueline said she came into the music industry in 2018 only by accident when a friend got her to sing for him.

Since then, she fell in love with music so much that she was giving it a run for her money. She says since then she had produced and launched a single called I Know, already in rotation and doing well.

She said that was not her first dalliance with music as she had been involved as a ‘music engineer’ at church for the longest time.

Jacqueline said she had always been hesitant with taking any lead in music and had shied away from singing, but said her involvement in music had been beneficial in her growth and determination to achieve bigger things in life.

However, while her debut project was a Soulful House musical number, Jacqueline has refused to be tied down to just the one genre.

She is currently working on an EP, which she is optimistic will expose her entire repertoire to her fans and provid an opportunity to garner a large following.

She said she was currently working with a record label called Superior Interior Entertainment to produce a diverse album mix, which featured different genres.

She noted that this would help her find the musical sounds that worked for her, noting that as a new comer it was important to make music that was relatable to her audiences.

She says in the past, her music had been about her personal experiences and the many lessons that she had learned as a young woman.

“As artistes we have a responsibility to better the world through our works because music is a universal language,” she said.

Jacqueline said she was also working on a video for her Single I know, which would be released sometime this year.

She said through strategic collaborations with some multitalented artistes in the industry she was hopeful that someday her name would be counted in top 20 charts across the country and internationally. ENDS
