Legendary entertainment promoter and businessman Mosupi Masole will be buried in Mokubilo on Saturday.

Masole, who was porpularly known as Tops died Sunday at Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone where he was hospitalised following a short illness.

A family member, Boitshwarelo Masole said the 62-year-old had always shown his desire to be buried next to his late father who passed away some years back.

A memorial service will also be held today at Botswana Craft, Gaborone in remembrance of Masole.  

Tops is the founder of Trekkers Night Clubs in Maun, Gaborone and Kasane as well as the owner of Maduo Lodge in Maun.

In 2008, he was one of the people who were at the forefront when nightclub operators took the government to court following the implementation of new liquor operating regulations.

They argued that the revised regulations were killing their business because they were the hours of operation were too short for them to make money as night club business was a very expensive venture.

Masole said Tops was the sixth child of the late Jobela Masole and Mokera Masole in a family of eight (four boys and four girls).

He attended school in Francistown upto junior certificate before joining the Botswana Defence Force.

She said Tops left the army and ventured into business in a joint partnership with his late father before moving to Maun to establish Maduo Lodge.

A press release from the  Botswana Entertainment and Promoters Association, (BEPA) secretary-general, Sydney Nzala says Tops, the founding member of BEPA has been in the business for over three decades. “A well-known larger than life figure in the public space, it would be appropriate to give him a befitting send-off,” says Nzala in a press statement.  

The release says a memorial service to be held today will be live streamed on the BEPA Facebook page and various social media platforms.

He is survived by five children, three boys and two girls, a sister and a younger brother. ENDS
