Dithabeng le dithoteng hits shelves

04 Feb 2021

Bazibi Toteng aka Zibos has released her maiden gospel album titled Dithabeng le dithoteng.

In an interview, Toteng said the eight track album was recorded and produced by Kitso Mauchaza at Nice Cut Production Studios in Gaborone and that it was released last month.

She said the album consist of songs such as Thuso e tla tswa kwa go Jehofa, Jona Jona, Yo a fodisang and A re mmineleng among others

Zibos said she regarded the gospel music as a therapy that consoled when things were down. Moreover, she said it was a genre that could be played under and any given circumstance.

“I have always been engaged in music at church and other different social gatherings and whenever I performed, the audience got fascinated.  Since the world is now battling with challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, I felt the need to administer prayer through music so as to soothe troubled minds,” she said.

Zibos said the track Thuso e tla tswa kwa go Jehofa sends out a message that in any situation either good or bad, people should have faith that God sees them through it all and he would give out the best possible solution.

She also said A re mmineleng was intended to encourage people not to question God, but to give praise in any challenges they encountered.

“People have a tendency to question God, and this shows that some people still have doubts about his capabilities. Through this song I wished to discourage that tendency,” she said.

Zibos said recording her album was almost an easy task since her daughter took care of all the monetary charges and other related logistics.

Zibos further said she was aware of the challenges ahead, especially that the music industry was almost saturated with young vibrant artists and other challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I will always strive to be relevant, composing songs that will bring positive changes. At the same time I will always look up to seasoned gospel artists to help me out whenever I am challenged,” she said.

Zibos said although she could not engage in any performance due to COVID-19 challenges, she was hopeful that advertising through social media and word of mouth would help to bring in the desired momentum. ENDS
