Mahalapye-born Kagiso Mokgoro, alias G. Double.E in music circles, says he plans to conquer the music industry despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the industry.
Speaking during an interview on Tuesday, he said he was planning to keep on releasing musical content with the best merge between instruments and lyrics to satisfy the needs of his fans.
G.Double.E said despite the impact of COVID-19 he has plans to continue making waves in the Botswana music industry.
The Motswako rapper said this year he plans to drop an Extended Play (EP) online with sides A and B called I am everywhere as another mode to reach all his fans and supporters.
He further noted that side A would be Hip-Hop and trap while side B would be Afro-dance, Kwaito and Amapiano.
“This will show my ability to be versatile and flexible, which I believe is my special effect in modernising music in Botswana,” he added.
G.Double.E said there would be no CD or hard copy due to expenses and the effects of COVID-19.
He said the EP would be an added advantage for artists as they would be able to save the little money they possess since there were no events or shows.
“Trust me, this is the best musical advantage to ever drop in Botswana and be done in Botswana, and with this EP, there will be lots of surprises,” he said.
Recently G.Double.E dropped Kakapa, which was mastered and produced by Nigerian Toko Yapegis and recorded at a local studio called Mollo Records.
He said he dropped the single on 23 January, and that it was doing well in the market and getting airplay in some local radio stations.
The 23-year-old artist said he dropped three singles in 2020, being: Ke Nosi, Mampudulele and Mokgoro, which did very well in the market despite the pandemic.
He said Ke Nosi was produced by Tked from Big Size Music Production while Mokgoro and Mampudulele were produced by Pro Lanez from Mollo Records.
He revealed that he planned to keep the three producers to deliver his wish to conquer Botswana music.
The degree in digital film and television production graduate said he ‘found’ his musical talent at age of 15 and made it his mission to expand his skill and natural talent.
He revealed that he dropped his first six-track album called Alankutwa in 2009 when he was a Form Two pupil at Bokamoso Junior Secondary School in Gaborone. ENDs
