20 Jan 2021

TY Thutapuo’s 17-track album dubbed Maf Diponeng is set to make waves in the local entertainment circles.

Born Tito Ketlhanyegile in Mahalapye, TY Thutapuo revealed in an interview that his flexibility enabled him to create works that go with the mood.

“Through my music, I can express any mood; be it happiness, sadness or struggles. When it comes to Motswako music I have no limits or comfort zones,” he said.

He said his album, Maf Diponeng, that hit the shelves in January, evoked emotions, as it talks about different issues that he himself went through in his hometown and other life struggles he has seen around his community, adding that anyone would be able relate to it.

He said Motswako fanatics would love and enjoy the creation in the song.

TY Thutapuo, who began his music journey in 2009, with the group Maloko and went solo in 2015, said he improved and perfected his skills to produce the album.

He said this was not his first time in the music scene, as he once released an EP album, which did not do well, though he performed at various events, especially in Lobatse.

“With this new project, I am planning to work hard to market it and put it out there and I am currently working on shooting a few videos,” he said.
TY Thutapuo, a nurse by profession, said due to  COVID-19, he has had to delay the listening session and launch, and would do have them soon as things ‘get back to normal’.

Meanwhile, he revealed that the album was available on online stores and some local radio stations, adding that he was still working on taking it to other parts of the country. Ends
