Phologolo celebrates achievements

Ramotswa born Ofilwe Keagakwa, alias Phologolo in music circles, aims to end 2020 on high note after releasing three singles and coming out victorious during Yarona FM Music Awards 2020 (YAMAS).

In an interview with BOPA on November 25, Phologolo who grew up in Selibe-Phikwe said he came out victorious for the first time during (YAMAS) under the categories, Best Hip-Hop/Motswako and best Collabo.

He said he also scooped Best Collabo of the year with his song Rema Afrika featuring South African best Emcee Zakwe and Drak.

Phologolo said he dropped Rema Afrika in January 2019 and got massive rotation in most charts in the local radio stations and other social media platforms.

He said the song got played by 40 radio stations in South Africa and claimed number one spot on most local charts through Yarona FM Hot40.

Phologolo said in September 2020, he released a single called Victory Lap produced by LIL G33 studios to acknowledge his followers for the support and also to appreciate his good work which resulted in him wining two awards during YAMAS 2020.

He said his hype led to recognition and appreciation by Sedimental Pty Ltd, which became his business partner in Music from 2016.

Phologolo said through the awards he won during YAMAS 2020, it was now his time to shine and prove his talent and passion for Motswako music.

He said on October 10, he dropped a single track titled Tsa Kgale, produced and mastered by Drak and expected to receive massive following during the festive season.

Phologolo believes in art being the expression of the soul and the soul being fed by music.

Motswako is a music genre in which rappers fuses both Setswana and English to compose rhythmic flow of musical verses.

Phologolo is one of the most influential Hip Hop/Motswako artists to most upcoming Motswako young stars in Botswana especially in Selibe Phikwe where he grew up.

He said being in the music industry for over 10 years, his song writing talents, unique flow and cultural taste had since matured, adding that his followers also compared him to South African veterans such as Tuks Senganga, HHP and Morafe to mention a few.

The Motswako Rapper’s debut album Tswana Breed was released in 2007; the album was recorded and distributed by him under his own label TSWANA BREED (TSB).

He said the album received an unexpected five star massive airplay from local radio stations in Botswana as well as appearing in Botswana Television music show, Mokaragana. ENDS
