With co-creation and collaboration, aspirations can go further than any man in his solitude, says Tumisang Dick.

Dick, who is the president of a musical concert called GIVE (Gospel, Inspired Veterans, Empire) said his musical aspirations of growing in the local gospel industry was within reach.

The 27-year-old man of Gootau said an interview that GIVE concert had given many aspiring artistes in Botswana a chance to realise their musical dreams as it offered them a chance to produce music collectively.

Dick said the GIVE concert had successfully produced a live gospel show, where various artistes got a chance to produce individual songs by offering a space where they could come together and make music through the help of Colmas Music Pro, who helped in production of their audio vocals, while Rhoda Designs were instrumental in recording visuals 100 per cent free of charge.

“We are carrying a God inspired destiny within ourselves and together we can do more,” he said.

However, Dick said the journey to get where the GIVE concert is had never been easy.

He said from early on, music labels rejected their music while other people did not want to be with them since they did not understand the vision he wanted to create.

Dick said without any acclaim, the group had gone through creative hardships as they could not get the critical sponsorships they needed to grow and produce big concerts such as the likes of Joyous Celebration among others; although they had received positive feedback from followers and fans of the GIVE project.

He however remained resolute throughout the challenges they had gone through to see the project becoming a success. Dick said notwithstanding sponsorships and goodwill from their producer, they have had to pay for productions entirely out of their pockets which was costly but a rewarding exercise.

He further said COVID-19 had stalled sales of their album since its release in February because they could not do promotional shows and attract more people to come and watch them perform which significantly affected them.

However, he said, the album was doing significantly well after receiving airplay from Botswana Television, adding that the reception from fans was positive.

“We’re hopeful that when the COVID-19 situation eases, we will be able to get back into performing and making incredible music and growing the GIVE concert into a big show,” he said.
