A local rapper, William Selalame has released his first single titled: “Kgang ke bolwetse (corona)”.
The song, featuring renowned local dancehall artist, Robby G, was released during the nationwide lockdown.
In an interview with BOPA on Wednesday, Selalame, who goes by the stage name MC Bad, said the single, which was recorded at Insomia Sound Lab (Monarch Ink), addresses issues of the corona virus and also teaches people to stay safe and protect themselves from the virus.
He said the single had two chorus versions; one encouraging people to stay home and safe, while the other advises people to drink alcohol responsibly and at home, to avoid crowded places such as pubs and bars.
Furthermore, MC Bad said the song encourages people to take responsibility in the fight against the scourge, as prevention is better than cure.
He said due to the national lockdown and movement restrictions, he was not able to shoot a video for the song, which he said was a therapeutic tool for all people and artists, who had been through difficulties during the pandemic.
The 34-year-old local lad, who has worked with the Wu-Tang affiliate and Father Jah, said that in 2017, he released an EP album, which featured local artists like K-Bos, Ht-Tautona among others.
He urged everyone to stay safe by wearing their masks, washing their hands and keeping a distance. ENDS
