05 Oct 2020
Preparations for the upcoming Professional Modelling workshop to be hosted by supermodel Kaone Kario, are progressing well.
The workshop will be administered through Creative Chaos modelling agency owned by Kario in partnership with Mos Syde, a talent management company owned and directed by Safie Sekgwa.
The coordinator, Sekgwa, told BOPA in an interview that the workshops were slated for the end of November and December this year in Gaborone, Maun and Francistown while final dates would be announced.
He said so far more than 1 000 aspiring models countrywide had shown interest in the workshop and numbers were likely to increase since registration was still ongoing.
He said participants were expected to pay up a total fee of P950 so as to cover expenses to be incurred during the workshop.
Sekgwa said those who were challenged to pay up the entire money once would be allowed to pay in installments.
“We are also aware that some aspiring models might be from disadvantaged social background and cannot pay the stipulated amount at once, therefore we allow them to pay in instalments,’’ he said.
He said upon completion of the workshop, models would be given attendance certificates, reference letter, and mentorship contacts, headshots for their own modelling portfolio, and a photoshoot with Kario and other incentives.
He said aspects to be covered during the workshop included expected personal conduct in modelling, image management, body care, job opportunities in modelling among others.
Sekgwa said the purpose of the workshop was to inspire and equip upcoming models with professional conduct and advice in relation to modelling.
He also said they intended to share their professional experience with upcoming models and instill the sense that modelling was a full-time profession one could embark into for a dignified livelihood.
“We felt the need to share our professional experience with some aspiring models. This can be an extra mile to help local models gain exposure internationally and grow the industry,” he said. ENDS
