Local content awards set for December

Gilbert Promotions has released 24 categories that significant industry players will be nominated for, during the Local Content Awards billed for December.
In an interview on Wednesday the awards organizer, also the Director of Gilbert Promotions, Gilbert Seagile aka ‘PP wa Pimp’, said the awards would honour men and women who have made a mark in promoting local content in their respective platforms.
He said members of the public would select the individuals or house media that they found deserving, while winner of the special award would be determined by the organising committee.
Categories contested for include the most played local artiste, most played local track, the best radio station playing local music the best radio and presenters playing local content, the best entertainment journalist, best annual presenter and best politician advocating for creatives.
He said other categories included the best disc jockey, the best living legend, best fine art, best promoter, the best graphic designer, best comedian, best poet and the best corporate organization supporting creatives among others.
Seagile noted that it was proper to appreciate those who endlessly supported and promoted local content, and also reward them accordingly.
He further said if the COVID-19 situation did not normalise, awards would be held virtually though arrangements for the event were at an advanced stage.
The director said they have an agreement with local company named SecurDTec Pty Ltd to take care of arrangements to buy online tickets for participants.
He also said a link would be set up that to allow people who bought tickets to participate on the awards virtually. ENDS
