Local artist and events manager, UncleDipopae, real name Michael Sekaba, has expanded his portfolio by joining the South African radio station Kopanong FM as a lifestyle reporter on a two-year contract.
The 25-year-old Kanye born, who is popularly known for organising kids and lifestyle events around the country, told BOPA in an interview that he got hired by the radio station at the beginning of August after trying his luck with various productions in South Africa.
He hosts a daily afternoon show called TRT Drive Show with Karinos and Michael Sekaba.
“I started featuring in South African radio stations and once auditioned for a South African Broadcasting Corporation children’s show but I was not successful. However, I did not give up and continued to try my luck until Kopanong FM hired me for this role,” he explained.
He said his new role entailed reporting on entertainment industry in Botswana and how COVID-19 pandemic had affected the industry.
He said due to movement restrictions that resulted in the closing of borders, he was compelled to record and send his work to the station.
However, he was optimistic that once things get better, he would be able to move to South Africa.
He believed the new role was the beginning of big things for him, as he works on fulfilling his childhood dream of rocking international airwaves.
“It started off as a dream and I began by organising kids’ events and managing some artists, now this will definitely grow my portfolio beyond that and grow my brand,” he said. Ends
