Maun based afro-jazz singer and guitarist, Serata Diwambara has released his third album dubbed Thuto ga e golelwe, .
In an interview with BOPA, Diwambara said the album, which was recorded at CMD records in Maun, comprised of six tracks, which all carry a strong message about life in general, noting that it would hit the shelves in two weeks.
He said plans to launch the album had been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic as the protocols discouraged large gatherings in an effort to reduce the spread of the disease.
The main song in the album Thuto ga e golelwe, he said, encouraged people to take non-formal education programmes seriously as education was a key to successful life.
Diwambara, who is affectionately, known as Histo in the entertainment circles, revealed that by getting an education, one gave herself/himself the chance to better their life. He said the song encouraged people, regardless of their age, to continue learning.
“Getting the right education is undoubtedly important for the success of a person. Through education, one can turn his/her dreams into reality and be self-dependent,” he stressed.
Another track Boitshwaro, Diwambara said talked about promoting discipline amongst young people, noting that he wanted to promote healthy and good lifestyle in society, through his music.
He urged Batswana to rally behind local artistes, as the music industry had been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Diwambara noted that before the pandemic artises use to generate income through live performances at corporate shows, some lodges, hotels and liquor outlets, such as bars, but now they were struggling to make ends meet.
He joined the music industry in 1997 and his first album was Binang Koma, released in 2012, while the second one Mabina go tsholwa hit the shelves in 2017, but did not do well in the market because of piracy.
He credited music giants like Stigger Sola, Guard Oratilwe and Carlos Ditsheko for encouraging him to become an artist and record an afro jazz/pop album. ENDS
