Gilbert Promotions director, Gilbert ‘PP wa Pimp’ Seagile says preparations for the Local Content Awards billed for December are underway.
In an interview, PP wa Pimp said though they encountered some delays due to lockdown, preparations were not lagging behind.
“We keep encountering challenges of restricted movements and this has slightly disturbed preparations for the Local Content Awards, especially on contacting relevant stakeholders,” he said.
“If the current situation of COVID-19 does not normalise, awards will be held virtually,” he added.
He said they had an agreement with local company, SecurDTec (Pty) Ltd to take care of arrangements of selling online tickets for participants.
He also said a link would be set up that would allow people who bought tickets to participate during the awards ceremony.
PP wa Pimp noted that currently they were working on meeting with Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development for endorsement of the initiative.
“The ministry is the custodian of arts, so it is imperative to work with them throughout on such matters,” he said.
PP wa Pimp further said once the endorsement had been done, Local Content Awards launch would also be conducted adding that sponsors would also be unveiled while nominee codes for the awards would also be released. ends
