Even though 2020 will go down as the year that cast doubts and uncertainties on people’s minds due to COVID-19, there are still those who believe all is not lost.

Through the single track, The Great Harvest, Jwaneng Assembly of God church is optimistic that this is the year to lure more people to God and make them understand His ways.

“Every year we have a theme and The Great Harvest is the theme for this year. It is basically based on the Biblical teaching that there is a lot of harvest yet the harvesters are few,” explained the award-winning gospel artiste, Tefo Phiri in an interview.

Released in March and followed by a video three months later, the single is intended to motivate people to enhance their faith and reap what God has in store for those who believe.

Phiri also explained that they decided to release the single track while awaiting the fully packaged album because the song was specifically for this year.

He said the other seven songs, which are expected to be ready by end of the year, will focus on other areas.

Additionally, he said the church had been using the theme song and its message to do house to house visits, crusades and open air to spread the word of God.

He also noted that in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, they had taken it upon the church’s responsibility to encourage people to follow the health protocols as laid out by government.

He said religious organisations had a role to play in ensuring holistic wellbeing of a person.

Through the theme song, Phiri, who also arranged it, the church intends to offer thanksgiving to God whom they believe in His promises.

“God has promised us great harvest and through this song we also thank him because as believers we have faith in His promises,” he said. The single, which was composed by Reverend Titose James and recorded at Sound Hub studio, is yet to be distributed in shops pending packaging of the whole album. ENDS
