Renowned kwaito artiste, Thabo ‘Mapetla’ Ntirang is back with a single Thaba Tshweu.

Not only has he grown in music, Mapetla’s versatility has seen him branch off to other genres, his latest offering being an afro pop infused with kwaito.

He is the talent behind the celebrated Amapiano who has also entertained fans with hip hop kwaito and gospel-infused kwaito.

“As a musician you need to grow with your market,” Mapetla stated  in an interview,adding that his fans were grown up people whom he needed to satisfy hence the afro pop kwaito direction.

With 15 years in the music industry, Mapetla noted that the direction he was taking now, would afford him an opportunity to play with live bands and also be appealing to corporate events who were into mellow, chilled soulful sounds.

“The response from the older generation has been amazing and the younger generation has also been receptive,” stated Mapetla.

Mapetla said COVID-19 had denied them live shows and ultimately no income.

He said he had been spending more time in the studio, preparing for when life returned to normalcy.

Thaba Tshweu, which celebrates marriage, was written by Mapetla and produced at Decibel Studios in Lobatse. ENDS
