15 Jun 2020

Debutant hip-hop/motswako artiste, Botho Maribeng aka Catnyora, has released a single dubbed Big Dreams.

The new kid on the block has made his intention known, to become one of Botswana’s finest motswako artiste through his electrifying Big Dreams single.

In an interview recently, Catnyora revealed that his music career was God’s plan to attract the youth to listen to his heavily messaged music and sway them to lead positive lives.

He said the track, which had been on the market for a while was garnering the attention it deserves, an assurance that the road ahead will not be a very bumpy one.

Catnyora said Big Dreams would pave a way for his upcoming album, adding that releasing the single was to test waters and prepare Batswana for his next offering.

The 35-year-old from Lobatse, started rapping at a young age, and while he looked up to various artistes such as the late South African rapper, Jabulani Tsambo, alias HHP, his late brother DJ Base sealed the deal as he introduced him to the industry by taking him to shows.

“HHP made singing in indigenous languages more fun and it was different from most  artistes fond of imitating American-style rap.

I got hooked to the music, which led me to record my first motswako single after vast experience of doing freestyle, open mic sessions and battles around the streets of Lobatse,” he said.

The song was produced by Sickboy and published by Linehpin Entertainment and he explained that the song was about having big dreams, ambitions and aims to encourage the youth to chase their dreams.

In addition, he said the music video for the single would be shot at the end of the month.

Catnyora holds Bachelors of Arts degree, majoring in Marketing, Media studies and Communication from Monash University South Africa and currently works at RB2’s  marketing section.

Apart from his artistic pursuits and career, he spends time promoting his clothing line called Catnyora Fashion apparel (CFA). ends
