Vision 2036 supports creative arts

Tabaka Mochipela is the winner of the Vision 2036 mascot design competition.
Announcing the winner in Gaborone on Wednesday, Vision 2036 council member, Gogontlejang Phaladi said there was need to support the creative industry because it had the potential to improve livelihoods and diversify the country’s economy.
Phaladi said Vision 2036 would continue to play a pivotal role in supporting and embracing the sector, adding that the competition was one way to lure the youth to show interest in the creative arts
She said 23 youth had participated in the completion and Mochipela emerged victorious and walked away with P10 000.
“The design a mascot and win competition is one initiative that will set in motion continuas engagement in the creative sector,” she said.
She commended Mochipela, who completed his Bachelor of Science in Networking Security and Computer Forensic, saying he was one of those youth who always made efforts to try some new ideas.
She said although he had no experience in art work design, his zeal to try new ideas made him excel.
She noted that the works done by Mochipela would be further refined by professional designers who would consult him on changes that needed to be done to ensure that the originality of the design was preserved but refined to meet other brand protocols.
Phaladi further said the purpose of the mascot was to sensitise the community about Vision 2036 and its purpose.
For his part, Mochipela expressed gratitude over the cash prize, saying it was a milestone that would help him come up with means that would sustain him while searching for employment opportunities in line with his a qualifications.
He further encouraged other youth to be upfront on empowerment issues and those that would assist in nation building. Ends
