10 Jun 2020

Jazz enthusiasts are in for a treat with Thabang Garogwe’s latest offering, Sesame ke le nosi, likely to help them unwind after a scary COVID-19 lockdown.

In an interview, the jazz sensation who goes by the stage name Thabang, revealed that Sesame ke le nosi, a fourth under his sleeve will be released on June 10.

The 10-track album recorded at Touch Records is a must listen, given its  inspirational message geared towards restoring love among families, and providing counselling on everyday life challenges that some people have to deal with.

Thabang worked along other talented artistes such as Thabo Kgaswane responsible for production, Gomotsegang Rapoo on lead guitar and Lereko Lesole on bass guitar.

The inspirational musician revealed that he choose to talk about love since it was a large aspect of life that gives one a sense of belonging, stressing that communities came to being because of love.

He lamented that the same societies seem to be breaking the baton of love, evidenced by cases of gender based violence and other related social ills.

“My album basically encourages love among people,” he said, adding that continuing cases of gender based violence and other related issues showed the essence of love and caring for one another.

The hit song Sesame ke le nosi, expresses his personal experience with love.

Thabang said with love nothing was impossible, and that through the song, he expressed all the challenges he endured before his breakthrough.

He said the love he received from those who cared made him survive, hence the song to celebrate his happiness and all that he struggled for.

His last album Le Romile Mang was released in 2014 and he took time to record another album with the notion that music should not be only about profit or having many albums. “Music should have concrete content, subject and concept worthy of fans.”

His dedication and determination to produce good music has earned him a spot in some SADC countries and internationally.

Although he has not received any recognition award yet, he has been nominated for the best male artist and best jazz song of the year in the previous BOMU awards.

He said nominations alone were a sign that his craft was growing and was significant. Ends
