Botswana Music Union (BOMU) first president, Taolo Moshaga remembers RB1’s Masa A Sele presenter, Thuso Letlhoma as someone who believed in the capabilities of his fellow countrymen.
Moshaga told BOPA in an interview on May 30 that ‘Thuzoski’, a name Letlhoma came to be widely known as, was patriotic and served Botswana to the best of his abilities.
He said Thuzoski believed in everything Botswana.
Moshaga, who is also the founder and president of the National Union for Botswana Artists (NUBA) said Thuzoski was a friend to all and so believed in the entertainment industry in Botswana.
“He trusted the potential of aspiring, emerging and established artistes and believed their dreams could become a reality,” stated Moshaga.
His intent to play local music on the national broadcaster, Moshaga said, was to give exposure to artistes and promoters and make them relevant.
He said Thuzoski was forever smiling and a happy soul who never let anyone down.
He said he had worked with him on a number of projects and did not recall a single time Thuzoski underperformed or disappointed, adding, 'he was the epitome of excellence and elegance.”
Moshaga shared that ‘Kwankwetla’, another name that Letlhoma was referred to as, was not only passionate about local content, but promoted other associated works.
“The Thuzoski that I know and worked with professionally was highly consistent and intrinsically motivated, hence other journos borrowed a leaf from him to better Botswana,” Moshaga said.
He said in many cases, Thuzoski sacrificed and offered his services to show business to which he was a brand, and worked with everybody with no conditions at all.
“In him the nation has lost a genuine figure who was effervescent, not only in showbiz, but other areas as well,” Moshaga stated.
He hoped that his demise would not create a vacuum at the national broadcaster.
Thuzoski frequented the Mass Media Complex library to keep abreast with topical issues before going on air.
That gave him good angles for his shows and it impacted positively on the lives of his audience.
Thuzoski falls in the category of top notch journos and the country’s finest who helped the national broadcaster amass a broader base of listenership through anecdotes that left the audience in stitches.
He and other journos in the likes of the late Brooks Monnaanoka, deceased Simon Moilwa and Geoffrey ‘Rraagwe Malaakatse (Moshombororo)’ Motshidisi, among others had the nose for content that inspired many to join the profession. Ends
