DJ Lod Rakim releases corona

30 Mar 2020

As the entire world grapples with coronavirus, some local artistes have taken to churning-out songs all in the name of educating and sensitizing the public about the pandemic.

An up-coming artiste, Sakie Malunga, 45, is among artistes who recently released a single track album that goes by the name Corona.

Malunga, known in music circles as “DJ Lod Rakim,’’ his single was recorded this month at Street Red Juice Entertainment Studios in the City of Francistown.

The Hip-Hop House single track sensitizes members of the community about COVID-19 which had been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

He said using music to communicate public health messages to the masses was not a new phenomenon.

In an interview recently, DJ Lod Rakim said the single was inspired by the devastating nature of the virus, and he felt obliged to use his talent to sound warning bells to the community to be watchful and avoid catching the disease.

The song beseeches God to forgive and show mercy to nations across the globe and to safe the perishing world populace as a result of the coronavirus.

The Francistown-born and raised Disc Jockey said positive attitude was key to keeping COVID-19 at bay, citing recent instances on social media where Italians, among the most ravaged nations by the virus, took to song from the balconies of their houses to distil fear and encourage one other as a sign of solidarity.

“I’m sure there’ll be a lot of live streamed concerts and chatting to fans online. All this is done to dispel fear and stress which comes as a result of the disease,’’ he said.

According to DJ Lod Rakim, people should meditate more often to stay calm, laugh a lot and spread joy and believe that like all things, COVID-19 would pass.

The brand new single is expected to hit the market soon. ends
