Bonnitas Come Duze Confess out
22 Mar 2020
The saying that success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm, best describes the story of upcoming musician, Bonnita Lekopanye’s life.
After being trounced twice out of the singing television competition, My Star, the promising musician did not quit nor miss the lessons to be learnt from the competition, and such is attested by the release of his two singles, Come Duze and Confess, offered after his unsuccessful stints.
He revealed in an interview recently that he remained unyielding to his craft though he failed in My Star competition.
My Star has been instrumental in producing various pop genre acts around the country and Bonnita is one of those.
Eliminated in 2018 and 2019 from the competion, Bonnita said he knew that his future was bright and required him to focus.
After being eliminated in top 10 of the comeptition in 2019, Bonnita continued to write and produce music despite numerous challenges that the music industry in the country was faced with.
He is hoping that the two albums will win him fame into a genre, which has continually received low attention in the domestic market and failed to penetrate international market.
Bonnita, a versatile musician does more than just RnB as he dabbles in different genres bringing the soulfulness of the different genres through his voice.
His lyrics are a confession of his life experiences and admitted that he was motivated by different international and local acts when he started his musical journey.
“The reason I have a good singing voice is because of the vocal training I got from Arthur Medupe, Lee Tsipane, Master Dee and Kamogelo Thomas back when I was a contestant in My Star,’ he said.
He also added that losing his parents in 2013 immersed him into different musical and life experiences noting that this was a major source of motivation and escape from the negativity of growing up without parents.
He also said despite spring-boarding from the show, he faced numerous challenges as an independent artist.
Bonnita said leveraging his image as a contestant from show had not achieved much gain for him as there are limited support structures to improve his brand and penetrate the RnB market in the country.
He noted that without any studio deal and without signage to any record label he would continue to face challenges. ENDS
