11 Mar 2020

The Tjilenje Tje Ngwao Group has celebrated the milestone of having its annual Nyaganbgwe Hill Cultural Festival (NHCF) scheduled in the country’s annual calendar of events.

To show its appreciation different stakeholders who contributed towards the recognition of the group were awarded appreciation certificates recently at Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE).

Some of the stakeholders who were awarded appreciation certificates included FCTVE, who had adopted the group since 2014, Unnonimous Caninez Monk (UCM) Acapella group, Botswana Accountancy College (BAC), RasT, Haskins, Apex Properties and Corporate Society of Botswana (CosBots).

Speaking during the award ceremony, NHCF president,  Ngwisiwa Ntogwa said the achievement was due to the partnership with different stakeholders who have been contributing and helping the group with preparations for the festival by different means.

He said the festival’s  objective was to promote and preserve culture. Ntogwa said having the festival as part of the nation’s annual events required better preparations and appealed to stakeholders to work with the group in making this year’s festival even better.

For her part, deputy principal of FCTVE, Tendani Thabano appreciated the partnership between  FCTVE students and the cultural group since 2014.  She said the collaboration has opened opportunities for students to learn more and enrich their skills in tourism and hospitality.

She further said they were proud of the group’s achievement and for making a difference in the community.
“If it had not been for FCTVE to adopt Tjilenje tje ngwao, the group would not have grown to sell our culture beyond borders. We really take pride in them,” she said.

Thabano further encouraged all stakeholders to contribute to the growth of the partnership with the cultural group as it could attract  more youth and yield more results. ENDS
