Maun welcomes delegation in style

A Zimbabwe delegation at the second session of Botswana and Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission were treated to Botswana traditional music and cuisine on Wednesday evening in Maun.
The event attracted several groups that mesmerised the attendants with well-choreographed dancemoves.
Traditional music legend, Molefi Monaga aka Stiger Sola took to the stage to enthrall the audience with his musical pieces.
The audience was taken by storm and they stood up on their feet to dance to Stiger Sola’s rhythms.
In her welcome remarks, Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Dr Unity Dow welcomed her counterpart, Lt. General (Rtd) Sibusiso Moyo and the delegation saying the event marked a chance for officials to interact and know each other better.
She acknowledged progress done by senior officials during the past three days and believed the event would give them an opportunity to talk beyond the discussion, but also on areas that the two countries could be stronger as partners.
Dr Dow explained that the bi-national commission was continuation of a good work on implementation of bilateral cooperation agreements and noted that they were looking forward to heads of state meeting billed for today.
It was stated that the two countries had made positive strides in a number of areas including energy, anti-corruption, defence, policing and mining.
The two countries also shared close cultural, historical and fraternal ties.
Giving opening remarks on the first day of the session, Zimbabwe permanent secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade who is also head of delegation, Mr James Manzou, appreciated Botswana for the warm reception and cordial hospitality accorded to the delegation.
He commended the organising team for a job well done in ensuring that the bi-national commission become a resounding success.
He appreciated Botswana for holding the session in a timely manner, and to a high standard, a challenge to Zimbabwe when hosting the third session.
The Bi-National Commission started on Tuesday and is expected to end tomorrow. ENDS
