The Melody Gospel TV show has unveiled its season two contestants’ sponsorship and season three is on the cards.
Giving a key note address at an event to unveil the sponsorship for the five contestants, who won in season two, deputy permanent secretary from Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Kgopolang Ramoroka applauded Gaborone Universal College for their efforts in sponsoring the contestants. He said the sponsorship came at an interesting time in the country where the country was going through a transformation, being fourth industrial revolution and job creation.
He said the sponsorship was of the first for a local institution to sponsor youth with school opportunity, an indication that the country was on the right path as there was a high need to develop the creative industry.
He further said the creative industry, through singing competitions like Melody Gospel TV Show, had the potential to create employment.
“It is through the initiative set by the show that Botswana can have international stars that can compete globally and fly high the country’s flag,” he said.
Ramoroka noted that The Melody Gospel TV Show had a talent objective to promote societal stability, by ensuring the youth were occupied with positive leisure activities as well as winning souls to God. He further said the youth of Botswana must be encouraged to invest more in their art, noting that he was aware that talent search competitions faced serious financial challenges.
“MYSC is committed to supporting the export development of arts despite the many existing competing needs and will continue sponsoring the project as we have seen it grow season one and today,” he said.
For her part, Itumeleng ward councillor, Motamma Horatius said as a product of the creative industry, she believed that there was a strong link between talent and education.
“I commend GUC for the opportunity and for what it has done for the contestants and I applaud the organisers for this initiative,” she said.
Meanwhile, The Melody Gospel TV Show executive producer, Pagson Tsie said auditions for the show’s season three would be held in Francistown, Serowe, Gaborone and Lobatse only adding that it would not cover other places because of financial constraints. ENDS
