The annual Miss Millennium beauty pageant has been hailed for its impressive growth over the years and seen as one of the very few progressive initiatives that push local talent.
Handing over a P70 000 sponsorship for this year’s pageantry at Millennium Jazz Restaurant at Mogoditshane on February 6, Mascom communications and public relations manager, Barbara Gotlop said in their two-year-old marriage, Mascom found it fit to ensure their support was impactful and meaningful.
Gotlop said the event was one of the best corporate social responsibility that Mascom had undertaken and they were pleased that the event brought together communities such as Mogoditshane together.
She said this year, Mascom was committed to supporting the technical set up for the pageant, pay for the entertainment during the pageant and support with prizes and tokens to the contestants.
The Mascom official said it was not only a beauty pageant but a unique event that celebrated a beautiful woman, who in their own right, were an epitome of success to a young woman and the community.
Giving an overview of the pageant, the founding member and the first ever beauty queen of the pageant, Felicity Bogacu said the idea of hosting the event born 12-years-ago was in line with Vision 2016 pillar of a caring and compassionate nation.
She said it was an appreciation of the women from all walks of life, sizes and shapes.
The former queen said proceeds from the event were always ploughed back into society to assist vulnerable members of the community. She explained that the overall objective was for the reigning queen to embark on a project that could generate income an assist the communities.
She said despite challenges incurred along the way it was worth applauding the progress so far.
Miss Millennium 2010, Theresa Hirschfeld appealed to the business community to support initiatives such as the pageant.
She shared her experiences about being crowned the queen and embarking in a project in Moshaneng.
The event producer, Zenzele Hirschfeld applauded all the courageous women, who had seen the event grow through the years.
The seasoned promoter extoled the previous queens for setting the trend for upcoming beauty queens.
She said prior to the main event set for February 15 at Millenium, they would host a high tea event where they invite inspirational women to share their success stories. ENDS
