Comedians promise fireworks

05 Feb 2020

South African and local stand-up comedians  are expected to leave comedy enthusiast in stiches during the Major Moves Entertainment comedy night slated for Masa Square Hotel on Februay 7.

The Friday show is a continuation of the stable’s efforts to popularise the art.

Major moves has kept its patrons up to expectation by staging a show every first Friday of the month since last year.

Given the beefy line up there is no doubt about Masa Square Hotel being a place of non-stop laughter as it features Botswana and SA’s finest comedians.

The show will be headlined by South Africa’s Kagisure Sebeho and Teboho ‘Goodenough’ Moholo as well as the local Queen of comedy Malebogo ‘Lebo English’ Lekgowa, Maatla Basha, and Oefile ‘Mawee’ Mokgware will represent Botswana.

The event coordinator Gaolathe Kediemetse said since the introduction of the monthly shows last year, they received positive support  from patrons and have explored ways of getting Botswana talent to shine internationally.

“Thapelo Malani and Maruza performed in Zambia, Triccs showcased in Swaziland, Brooks performed in Lesotho while Maatla Ephraim showcased in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

This also builds relations and exchange talent with other countries in our quest to create a sustainable market and continual artiste development,” he said.

The event will also bring upcoming comedians to the forefront, to introduce and give  them a chance to share the stage with renowned comedians.

Kediemetse highlighted that they were excited to be in the second year hosting the monthly event, despite lack of sponsors.

He expressed gratitude towards Masa Square Hotel management for creating an enabling platform to develop this form of art.

“We want to develop and contribute positively to the lives of the comedians so that they can make a living off comedy like their counterparts elsewhere in the world,” added Kediemetse.

He encouraged comedy lovers to expect fireworks from the likes of Kagisure Sebeho, who is not only a top notch comedian, but also an astute comedy organiser in Bloemfontein, having hosted several sought-after comedians in his hometown, including our locals; Brooks, Ephraim and Thapelo Malani at the Bloemfontein Civic Theater.

Goodenough has a unique brand of humour that combines wit and intellect without losing touch with his audience.

He is an award-winning stand-up comedian, whose stock has been rising and he delivers outstanding performances.

The show starts at 8pm. ENDS
