Sannah Model who wears many hats

20 Jan 2020

Upcoming artistes who see music as green pastures are rapidly flooding Botswana’s entertainment industry.

These artists are mostly the youth who are either in school or have just completed school.

Even if they have other things to do, these youngsters prefer to include music in their equation.

One such youngster is the Gabane born and bred Sannah Lesego Keromang.

The 19-year-old part time model loves music so much that she views it as not just music, but a stress reliever that clears any negativity among individuals.

In an interview with BOPA, Sannah managed to shed some light about her life in general.

Q: Please tell us about the type of music that you are into, and why?

A: I’ll say RNB, hip-hop and house because most of the time it relieves stress, especially RNB & hip-hop.

When it comes to house music, it’s because most people like it and they really enjoy this type of music; especially during good times such as festivals.

It’s also an obvious case that the majority of the youth love such music and therefore, this lifts my spirits as I do what I love for those who love what I do.

It inspires me, makes me energetic and it boosts my passion.

Q: What motivates you to sing? What inspired you?

A: My inspiration in music is that music is a meditator between my spiritual and sensual life.

It makes me happy.

Q: Who is your role model?

A: My family, because they keep on advising me on what is right and wrong.

They always look after me whatever I do.

They are a part of me.

My other role models are Omphile and Phodiso Pixel Tshegisi.

They are so enthusiastic and supportive of what I’m doing, they love what I’m becoming, they are focused and they promote me.

Love, care, patience, kindness define those ladies and I’m happy about what they are doing for me.

Q: What is your future plans?

A: To be more successful, living life with no support from anyone.

I have to hustle while I am still young to learn many more in life.

Q: Ok, so tell us about the beginning of your music career. A: I started singing at junior school during assemblies.

I also sang for the school choir and many people loved my voice. Even at home after school I sang.

I just took off my clothes, locked myself in the room, then sang so loud that even my granny often became angry because I never cooked or did anything until now.

I started singing professionally on February this year. Seeing that I’ve got an unearthed talent, I approached my first producer, Lanez in Mochudi.

He produced my freestyle song called I need you and it made me famous in every way.

I even shot the video of this song with Ko Lapeng Visuals, which was perfect. Everything has been smooth until now.

Q: Tell us more about this project.

A: I need you is my freestyle song like I said.

And its video was successfully approved at Botswana Television where it was played frequently.

By the way, I have another single called Crying that has not been published yet.

I’m still working on it and it should be out soon.

Things are looking good for me as an upcoming artiste because of being passionate and dedicated to my work.

Q: Any setbacks that you might have encountered?

A: I have never faced any challenges since I started music.

All is in good condition because of my behaviour, so everything is well.

Q: What can you say to other upcoming artistes out there?

A: My advice to other upcoming artistes is to stop looking for lucrative record deals and instead focus on building your career independently.Focus! Is the order of the day. ENDS
