Botswana Defence Force (BDF), through their community outreach development project dubbed BDF bands in concert style, recently donated P25 000 to Kang-based Katshalehulo Society.
In a side interview during the concert held at Matsha College recently, Katshalehulo Society chairperson, Gaketshabe Moromise applauded BDF band for their noble gesture, saying the society had been grappling with financial constrains to live up to expectations.
She said the society’s focus was mainly on assisting women since they were the most vulnerable to issues such as poverty, domestic violence and HIV/AIDS.
Moromise said they saw it fit to form a society that would do more to build and strengthen other women to overcome their lives’ shortcomings.
She revealed that the society was formed by a group of 40 women across Kgalagadi North villages (Kang, Tshane, Lehututu, Hukuntsi, Hunhukwe and Lokgwabe) in 2016, with the idea of uplifting disadvantaged women in the constituency.
She said through their visionary leadership, they managed to attract more members as the numbers had since increased to 60 members and counting.
For her part, Kgosi Basadi Seipone also applauded BDF band for their maiden appearance in Kang and the donation, saying it would motivate society members to perform to the best of their ability.
She also donated Bibles to BDF leadership and other retired BDF employees in Kang and encouraged them to abide by the word of God in order to draw strength and wisdom from it.
Meanwhile, the number of attendees was not impressive. However, that did not dampen the spirit of the performers as they came prepared to give their best.
The band mesmerised the few with different genres including, gospel, afro pop, traditional dance as well as rock and roll. ENDS
