Masisi attends 15th Hope Christmas Carols

08 Dec 2019

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and the First Lady Neo Masisi on Saturday attended the 15th Hope Christmas Carols at the Btv auditorium in Gaborone.

The line-up included Christmas carols orchestra music,  renditions from choirs, artists and some poetic narrations.

Also on the lineup was the beautiful traditional Acapella Christmas carol Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

Music pieces such as Ave Maria, Utlwang Kodi tsa Baitshepi, Re tsaletswe Mmoloki Medley and Peace in Christ, were adorably performed.

The highlight of the carols’ night perhaps was the poetic rendition of a Christmas Story by Motlhaolosa Poetry ensemble to which the audience joined with ululations and whistles as the poetry ensemble praised President Masisi.

The rendition of the popular English Christmas carol Feliz Navidad by Kutlwano Orateng wrapped the carols night as she took many back to their childhood Christmas days.

The Hope Christmas Carols are hosted annually by Tsholofelo Foundation in partnership with Botswana television.

The objective of the event is to mobilise members of the community to come together and celebrate the hope that comes with the birth of Jesus Christ.

When giving his remarks, Tsholofelo Foundation Patron Dr Joseph Makhema noted that Christmas was a testimony of God’s love for mankind.

He said it was a time when people should forget all their troubles and celebrate the meaning of life.

“It is also a time for all to pronounce the recovery of such to those who are blinded by the injustices of this world and the challenges beforehand,” he said.

Dr Makheme, therefore, said as people celebrated and sung carols, they should take note that Christmas was not a once-off event, but rather an everyday event of life.

Proceeds of the carols’ event are invested in the Tsholofelo Foundation Orchestra project run by Tsholofelo Foundation.

The 2018 proceeds from the event amounted to P10 000 and were donated to Dutlwe Village Development Committee to assist two families who were affected by fire in two separate incidents. ENDS
