 The usually quiet Lobatse township will be abuzz come December 14 when it welcomes the Bush Train Fiesta.

Bush Train Fiesta is a new concept and the brain child of some Batswana youth who want to liven up entertainment in Lobatse and have partnered with Coca Cola Beverages Botswana to present an end of year event and usher in the festive season.

 One of the event organisers, Andrie Mokopakgosi said Botswana Railways would avail the commuter train as a journey train to ferry attendants to Lobatse and back the following day.   

It will also be used as a party train since it has a disco compartment as well as a dance floor. The train will ferry people from Gaborone to a scenic spot at Crescent Farm in Lobatse

Mokopakgosi said attendants should brace themselves for a lit event with Wi-Fi, snacks, food, refreshments and activities available on board the party train and at the venue.

He said the proposed departure times from Gaborone for its three runs were 10am, 3pm and 6pm while the return times would vary since the train would need cleaning, fuelling and other operations logistics.

At the farm, Mokopakgosi said revellers would be entertained by upcoming and experienced artistes and DJs with a balance in gender and genre to represent and celebrate the festive season in style.

He said the event aimed at promoting urban and rural tourism and encourage local tourism by citizens and non-citizens.  “Our look and feel of the Bush Train Fiesta is inspired by the Victoria Falls Carnival in the neighboring Zimbabwe, which receives over 25 000 participants from all over the globe,” Mokopakgosi stated.

Coca Cola Beverages Botswana marketing manager, Joshua Mogotsi said they would sponsor the Bush Train Fiesta which would be an annual event, for a year. He said Coca Cola shared the value and freedom of expression, fun and were always looking to give individuals a platform to express that, which they were passionate about. ENDS
