Miss RADP game changer

Vice President, Slumber Tsogwane says Miss RADP annual pageant is a game changer for the out of school youth.
Giving a word of encouragement to the participants, Tsogwane said initiatives such as Miss RADP were great opportunities that needed to be taken seriously by the youth.
He said the competition instilled values such as teamwork and Botho among the participants hence should be approached with a positive attitude and embraced as playing a part in molding their future.
For his part, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development acting permanent secretary, Col. Duke Masilo indicated that the pageant, now in its seventh year, had gained popularity and significance in the modelling and pageantry industry of Botswana.
Col. Masilo said the event was a gender empowerment initiative meant for the youth from remote area communities and sought to among others, promote talent identification, promote inclusiveness of the young women in the mainstream society as well as avail opportunities for young women to participate in national events and represent their talents.
“These are achieved through life skills training and strengthened through granting of both cash and funded economic empowerment projects,” noted Col. Masilo.
In the past, Col. Masilo said winners undertook projects such as crafts shop, small stock, modelling and beauty parlour, water purification, catering, carpentry and other income generating projects.
Miss RADP will be held at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology on Saturday.
Twenty eight participants; 14 females and 14 males will compete for the crown of Mr and Miss RADP 2019.
Miss RADP winner will take home P10 000 cash and P50 000 for the project, first princess is P30 000 towards project and P7 000 cash prize while second princess takes P20 000 project money and P5 000 cash prize.
Others will receive P2 000 consolation prize.
Mr RADP on the other hand, will walk away with P25 000 project money and P10 000 cash prize, first prince P15 000 for the project and P7 000 cash while second prince wins P10 000 project money and P5 000 cash. Others will receive P2 000 consolation prize. ENDS
