04 Nov 2019

Emmie Motsamai, a seasoned digital short story writer has launched her first published book titled: The Angel (against my father’s wishes)

The novel is centered on the town of Maun, which is Botswana’s tourist destination and all the actions take place there.

The Angel is a moving and intimate novel providing a fascinating glimpse into the indomitable human life.

The story traces the fate of a girl child born from a family of five with a strict father, who is also a pastor.

Raised on Christian principles, the pastor’s daughter breaks out of the shell and two worlds collide when her heart finds something unique.

The book is also a mirror in front of society, as it speaks on issues that society confronts on a daily basis. It raises awareness on a number of issues such as sexual immorality and gender-based violence among others.

It teaches the reader about survival in the real world, how to handle certain circumstances and getting back after life throws one off a cliff.

Motsamai’s journey with creative writing started in 2015, through social media mainly Facebook, which she uses to connect with thousands of her followers across the world.

The Maun-born and bred writer, has so far written seven short stories in Facebook and has been able to generate interest and a good following from Facebook users in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia, Swaziland, Lesotho and the United Kingdom, some of whom managed to grace the launch.

Her creative writing is not based solely on entertaining her audience, but to also making income through advertisement on the page.

The author, whose identity is known by a few and was disguised even during the launch which was graced by her large following across borders with the hope of seeing their favorite writer.

She did so because she values her privacy and prefers to write anonymously in order to write freely without being judged. ENDS
