Baharena organises meat festival for independence

26 Sep 2019

Baharena Social Events, a group of four young people in Bobirwa are organizing Baharena Meat Festival slated for September 30.

Faced with challenges of unemployment and limited opportunities for youth, the quartet established Baharena Social Events with intention to among others organize events that will avail opportunities for young people in arts and culture industry to showcase their talents.

With the Baharena Meat Festival event, local DJs, MCs and musicians would be performing to the expected multitudes and thereby exposing them to recognition and future engagements elsewhere, organizer Richard Mompoloki said.

Mompoloki observed that the entertainment industry in Bobonong and Bobirwa in general was still at infancy and therefore needed some catalyst to get it growing.

His observation is that  many of the young people from Bobirwa were starved of entertainment and or shows that they would travel as far as Selebi Phikwe for such events.

Mompoloki is of conviction that with assistance from relevant stakeholders their efforts could be a panacea to addressing lack of opportunities and entertainment for young persons in the area.

In addition to musicians, DJs and MCs, designers would be accorded an opportunity to design clothes for show attendants since it is a strictly African print dress code.

Photographers too stood to benefit from Baharena Meat Festival opportunities since ticket holding revelers would be treated to free photographs.

House of Kay will sponsor the best dressed female with a dress worth P1000 while Favours Closet likewise will sponsor best dressed male with a three piece suit worth P800.

Runner-ups for both male and female will be gifted P300 for their dress sense efforts.

Young businesspersons trading in artifacts have been encouraged to partake and will be afforded stall at the Riverview Garden.

Mompoloki encouraged the youths to tap on the opportunity to widen their market.

He explained that there would be various packages such as squad of  five  and 10 to boast different benefits.

Squad of 10 is a package for 10 people who come together and buy tickets worth P1000. The group will be treated to free photographs, will feast on five varieties of meat in a platter, enjoy media coverage, have their children taken care of amongst a host of planned benefits.

Organizing such an event is not without challenges. Mompoloki called on potential sponsors and assistants to lend a hand. Ends
