Plans underway for Kgosi Tawanas birthday bash

Batawana are planning a mother of all bashes for Kgosi Tawana Moremi II’s 50th birthday billed for Maun main kgotla on October 5.
The party is organised by the chief’s Regiment, Matsaakgang as a way of appreciating him.
In an interview Matsaakgang Regiment Spokesperson, Douglas Mokenane said Kgosi Tawana’s 50 years is a milestone that deserves to be celebrated.
Mokenane said the Batawana were also celebrating the return of Kgosi Tawana to bogosi.
The birthday celebrations will kick off with a motorcade and other planned activities include horse riding, traditional music, poetry, eulogy, display of cultural & heritage basketry, he said.
Mokenane said Kgosi Tawana must be appreciated for being instrumental on various issues that affected the Batawana during his political career.
He said some people who had a chance to interact with Kgosi in their line of business will give eulogies.
Expected guests include Kgosi Tawana II’s relatives from Rustenburg, South Africa from his paternal grandmother Elizabeth Pulane Moremi’s side.
The OvaMbanderu Paramount Chief from Namibia Kaememua Kilus Nguvauva has also been invited to honour the cordial relationship between the Batawana, the
OvaMbanderu and the Ovaherero of Namibia who lived in the Ngamiland district in the past, Mokenane said. Ends
