Founder of Boskid company, Tebogo Mokute says Ga-maila beef festival to be held on September 29 at Dilolwe gardens is aimed at educating and showcasing the different types of beef cuisine.

Mokute said in an interview that in most cases people attending events think of the line-up of DJ’s or entertainment, but the beef festival would be different as it would centre more on cooking of beef.

The theme of the event is; Se Se Golo Tje Kgomo.

Mokute said their educative initiative had targeted mainly tertiary students and youth but were disappointed by the lack of  positive response from the youth.

Mokute, a University of Botswana student, who is also young entrepreneur who does t-shirts and caps printing said because the event had not secured funding or sponsorship he would finance it using personal funds and little money raised from selling printed t-shirst and caps promoting the festival.

Mokute stated that during the event there would be exhibition stalls offered for free to young entrepreneurs as way empowering them and giving  them a platform to market and sell their products and services.

Among the exhibitors, he  cited Kaelo Kebuang of K-law label. Further, he mentioned that as a youth start-up company they were facing challenges such as knocking from office to office for assistance in proposal formulation and in funding with no success.

The other challenge was on laws and regulations governing events they intend to organise.

Mokute said that through hard-work and determination they would never give-up, but would push even harder to see the event go through.

He was however thankful for the extension of entertainment hours by the government.

He was also appreciative of the customers  who purchased the printed t-shirts and caps as the money from the sales would contribute to the success of the event.  

The line up of DJs  includes  DJ Zosky, DJ Bista and DJ Mr Zasty, while activities for kids include face-painting and jumping castle. Ends
