For the first time since the start of the Miss Botswana pageant, the finale will this year be staged outside Gaborone. 

One of the organisers of the event, Kaone Moremong said the idea to stage the finale outside Gaborone was meant to take the pageant to the people.

She said Miss Botswana was not only for Gaborone hence the decision to stage it outside for the first time ever. Moremong also noted that the title sponsor was not based in Gaborone.

On Saturday there will be a top 30 Miss Botswana fashion show, which is an elimination for top 12 finalists. 

There will also be SMS voting for the girls to secure a place at the top 12. Moremong explained that the most voted for girl would automatically secure a place in the top 12, and that the remaining 11 would have to secure their spots from the points of preliminary judging as well as the fashion show. 

The Miss Botswana fashion show will showcase 12 local dress designers and three accessories designers. Moremong noted that there would also be performances and encouraged the public to come and witness beauty and glamour on August 17.

Miss Botswana will be crowned on September 23 and the queen will compete at the Miss World in London on December 14. ENDS
